ROCKWALL, TX – February 22, 2021 — The Chairman of the Texas House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Dr. Greg Bonnen, has tapped State Representative Justin Holland to serve on the Subcommittee on Articles I, IV, and V of the Texas State Budget for the 2022-2023 Biennium. The powerful budget-writing House Appropriations Committee is among the most influential committees in the Capitol, though navigating the budget process might be harder this session than in previous sessions given the turbulent global pandemic year.
This assignment puts Holland in a direct position to help craft the office budgets for many state agencies, offices, the judiciary and various public safety agencies. Among Articles I, IV, and V, notable offices and agencies include; Office of the Attorney General, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Facilities Commission, Office of The Governor, Secretary of State, Supreme Court of Texas, Criminal and District Appeals Courts, Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Commission on Law Enforcement, Military Department and Department of Public Safety.
The Appropriations committee will begin meeting and hearing testimony from offices, departments and agencies today, February 22, 2021. The committee will regularly post hearings and meet in room E1.030 of the Texas Capitol Extension until the budget is written.
Representative Holland represents House District 33, which encompasses the eastern, northern, and western most boundaries of Collin County as well as the entirety of Rockwall County. He is also the Vice Chair of the House Committee on Urban Affairs as well as a Board Director for the Texas Conservative Coalition. Representative Holland’s office, along with the Capitol Complex, is open to the public and plans to remain so during the 87th Legislative Session.
