Rockwall ISD Board approves name, principal of Elementary School 16

ROCKWALL, TX – February 22, 2021 — Below are summary highlights of the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Feb. 22nd.

Newest Elementary School Named, Principal and Zone Approved

The Board of Trustees approved the name Lupe Garcia Elementary School for the District’s newest campus located in the Williamsburg subdivision in Fate, Texas. Lupe Garcia is an educator with a distinguished 41-year teaching career with 40 years in Rockwall ISD serving the students and families at Dobbs Elementary School. She grew up in Fate and graduated from Rockwall High School with honors in 1966. Garcia and her family continue to reside in Rockwall. The new school is scheduled to open Fall 2021.



Steven Pesek Named Principal of Lupe Garcia Elementary School

The Board of Trustees approved Steven Pesek as the Principal of the new Lupe Garcia Elementary School. Pesek has 19 years of public education experience, including five years as the Principal of Sharon Shannon Elementary School. In addition to his campus principal experience, he has also served as an Associate Principal at Rockwall-Heath High School, Assistant Principal at Cain Middle School, and Administrative Intern at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary.

Attendance Zone Approved for Lupe Garcia Elementary School

The Board of Trustees approved the attendance zone for the Lupe Garcia Elementary School. The new boundary will include the northern part of the existing Shannon elementary zone, from Highway 30 on the north side, State Highway 276 as its southern border, Rochelle Road as its western boarder and the district boundary as its eastern border.

Adoption of Resolution Due to Emergency Closure

The Board of Trustees approved a resolution that provides duty pay compensation for all regular employees during the winter weather emergency closure of all facilities.
