Rockwall city council recognizes Older Americans Month

ROCKWALL, TX – May 4, 2021 — Meals On Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County joined the city council during last night’s meeting in recognizing the community’s senior citizens. Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt proclaimed the month of May as Older Americans Month in the city during the meeting.

Highlighting this year’s theme for Older Americans Month, “Communities of Strength,” the proclamation recognized older Americans as a key source of strength serving an important role in building strong, resilient communities.

“These seniors paved the way for this beautiful community and it is an honor to serve them every day at Meals On Wheels,” said MOWSS Executive Director Margie VerHagen. “We are on pace to serve 90,000 meals to seniors this year, as well as providing other crucial supportive services for these seniors. They need to be able to remain in their homes, where they want to be.”
