Rockwall student places 2nd in Rotary District Virtual Four-Way Speech Contest

ROCKWALL, TX – May 20, 2021 — Rawan Albdeiri of Rockwall earned 2nd place in the Rotary District 5810-North Texas Virtual Four-Way Speech Contest. At a recent meeting of the Rockwall Rotary Club, Albdeiri was presented with a $750 scholarship and a plaque.

Albdeiri was one of a total of 19 Rotary-sponsored students from high schools across Rotary District 5810 to compete in the contest.

Congrats to the following students who placed in the top 6, and to all 19 speakers of the contest:

1st place – Julia Lin of Plano High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Plano West. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship check and a plaque.

2nd place – Rawan Albdeiri of Rockwall High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Rockwall-Noon. She will receive a $750 scholarship check and a plaque.

3rd place – Tajvir Singh of Lovejoy High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fairview. He will receive a $500 scholarship check and a plaque.

4th place – Courtney Bell, Jr., of John Horn High School (Mesquite), sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mesquite. He will receive a plaque.

5th place – Zoya Makkar of Plano East High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Plano. She will receive a plaque.

6th place – Maheen Riaz of McMillen High School (Plano), sponsored by the Rotary Club of Plano East. She will receive a plaque.
