ROCKWALL, TX – August 3, 2021 — During Monday night’s meeting of the Rockwall city council, Members of the Rockwall Police Department and Rockwall Fire Department were recognized for saving the life of a man who had suffered a cardiac event.
On Sunday, June 12th, 2021, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Rockwall police officers Aaron Raymond and David Taylor responded to a medical emergency on North Alamo Road. The caller indicated they had located a family member who was unresponsive. The officers provided CPR until the Rockwall Fire Department arrived and took over patient care. After intervention, the Rockwall Fire Department was able to restore a viable heart rhythm. The patient was then transported to a local hospital, where he would go on to make a full recovery and be released days later.
Officers Raymond and Taylor, along with Rockwall Fire Captain Greg Givens and firefighters Andrew Burton and Zach Yates, were presented with Citizen Life Saving Awards due to their quick response and excellent teamwork which ultimately saved a life.
The man whose life they saved spoke at the council meeting, extending a personal thank you to the officers and fire department members. “Because of you, our family is still together and I’m standing here today,” he said.
