Carter BloodCare asks donors to give blood on behalf of veterans in November

ROCKWALL, TX – October 28, 2021 — In recognition of Veterans Day Nov. 11, Carter BloodCare encourages blood donors to give in November in honor and support of U.S. military veterans and active duty service members. This month is also a time to donate blood in gratitude for good health.

To boost the ongoing mission of keeping a safe and sufficient blood supply on hand, First United Methodist Church Rockwall is hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1200 Yellow Jacket Lane in the parking lot on the Carter BloodCare bus. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact John Hamil at (214) 403-4207.

Residents can also host their own community blood drives in memory of veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Drives are a lifesaving way to honor a veteran’s life or to support an active-duty service member of the U.S. military. Email to start planning a drive for your hometown heroes.

Donors can complete the medical history questionnaire online on the day of donation, before arriving to give blood. People who have had COVID-19 vaccinations are still eligible to donate blood. Carter BloodCare continues to perform antibody testing on all successful blood donations for a limited time.

Carter BloodCare staff and unvaccinated donors are required to wear facial coverings at blood drives or donation centers, except when temperature is taken during screening, or when eating and drinking after the donation. Vaccinated donors are strongly encouraged to continue wearing masks. Carter BloodCare will comply with required mask mandates, as applicable.

Potential blood donors may volunteer at age 16 with parental consent; 17-year-olds can give independently and there is no upper age limit. For more information on donor eligibility and to make an appointment, call/text 800-366-2834 or visit
