U.S. Chamber awards Rowlett Area Chamber with 4-star accreditation

ROWLETT, TX – November 8, 2021 — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Rowlett Area Chamber & Visitors Center with its designation of Accredited with 4 Stars for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

The Rowlett Area Chamber receiving this accreditation is truly an acknowledgement of their excellent work,” said Raymond P. Towle, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “Accredited chambers are recognized for their ability to serve as a resource to their region’s businesses while maintaining transparent governance practices, sound financial controls, safe work environments, effective communications, and value in programming. They are commended for their continued advocacy of free enterprise and for this tremendous accomplishment.”

Chamber President and CEO Michael Gallops said, “Our team of staff and volunteers has worked hard since I took this position 4.5 years ago to refine and improve our way of doing business and supporting the business community. This accreditation proves we accomplished what we set out to do and puts us in the top 3% of Chambers nationwide.”

The purpose of the U.S. Chamber’s Accreditation Program is to facilitate continuing excellence in the chamber industry and to foster a pro-business environment across America. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, communications, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete.

The current Chairman of the Board, Mark Hall with Hallmark Bodies Fitness had this to say, “Four years in the making! Congratulations to the current and former Board Directors, Past Chairs, awesome Chamber staff and CEO for being awarded a 4 Star Accreditation from the US Chamber of Commerce. This puts the Rowlett Area Chamber in an elite category equipped for serving our community now, and for years to come! “.

Rowlett City Councilmember Whitney Laning, who chaired the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2017 and 2018 when they started the path towards accreditation, added, “Congratulations to the Rowlett Area Chamber on their 4-Star accreditation by the US Chamber. The recognition is the result of many years of hard work by staff and volunteers. I am proud of this accomplishment and look forward to more great things from the Chamber.”

There are 41 accredited Chambers in the state of Texas and only 200 in the United States. Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

The mission of the Rowlett Area Chamber & Visitors Center is to represent and promote the economic well-being of the business community.
