Rockwall High School junior Ava Whitaker wins 6A State Championship in 100M Butterfly

ROCKWALL, TX – February 25, 2022 — Ava Whitaker (Rockwall High School class of 2023) is the 2022 6A Texas State Champion in the 100 butterfly! Ava swam a personal best of 53:03, which is also a new RHS record.

Ava Whitaker also placed 13th in the 200 individual medley with a 2:04:29.

Rockwall High School’s Women’s Freestyle 4X100 Relay placed 11th with a time of 3:32.69.

Kat Putchinski (11th)

Rockwall High School’s Women’s 200 Medley Relay placed 12th with a 1:48.32.

Swimmers: 

Myra Cansler (9th)  back stroke

Kat Putchinski(11th) breast stroke

Ava Whitaker (11th) butterfly

Ellie Samples (12th) freestyle

Also qualified in individual events were: Kat Putchinski (200IM), Ava Langston (500 freestyle).

Rockwall Heath High School’s Karly Merriott qualified and made the finals in the 500 freestyle and earned 21st place in the 200 freestyle.

RHHS’s Grayson Tidwell qualified to swim at the state meet in the 100 backstroke and earned 18th with a 51:35.18.
