ROCKWALL, TX – April 7, 2022 — The Rockwall Art League is honored to host sculptor, Jim Bryant, as their feature artist for their meeting on April 27 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at Harry Meyers Community Center (815 E. Washington St. in Rockwall). The public is welcome.
Jim’s history with RAL spans decades and he is a significant contributor to the art and history of Rockwall. His design for the commemorative statue depicting the founders of the original rock wall, for which Rockwall is named, was chosen over 17 years ago. The life-size, bronze Discovery statue will finally be placed in the Rockwall County Historic Courthouse Square later this year.
Jim learned about sculpting in clay for bronze casting, from the well-known Christian, cowboy artist Kenneth Wyatt of Tulia, TX, as well as many other contemporary artists in and around the panhandle and South Plains of Texas. During the meeting, Jim will share his art journey and inspiration. His presentation will include the sharing of slides, actual objects and the process of bronze and lost wax casting. www.jmbryant.com or Facebook page. During the program, Rockwall Art League will be answering questions about becoming a RAL member, upcoming exhibits, and the Annual RAL Fine Art Show.
