ROCKWALL, TX, April 12, 2023 – – For its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community, the Rockwall High School Student Council has been recognized as a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Student Council (NatStuCo) and has been awarded Sweepstakes from the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC).
In order to be awarded TASC Sweepstakes, the RHS Student Council had to earn awards in the following categories: Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, Drugs, Alcohol, Safety, and Health, Community Service, and Outstanding Student Council.
“Exceptional student councils are a hallmark of exceptional schools,” said National Association of Secondary School Principals CEO, Ronn Nozoe. “The Rockwall High School council has taken student leadership to the next level, creating a culture promoting scholarship and citizenship that resonates far beyond their team. I’m delighted to recognize their hard work with the National Gold Council of Excellence Award for their commitment to service, leadership and uplifting the voices of their peers.”
“It is an honor to get to work with and advise the student leadership team of the Rockwall HS Student Council,” said advisor Tim Watson. “Only 1.7% of high schools in Texas win the National Gold Council of Excellence award. My students work hard every day to come up with ways to make their school and community better. I am extremely proud of their accomplishments this year and can’t wait to see what they decide to do next.”
This is the second year in a row that Rockwall HS Student Council has won these prestigious awards.
