Rockwall, TX (June 9, 2023) – The members of Rockwall Rotary Club were honored to welcome Past Rotary International President, Ron Burton, to preside over the June 8th meeting as several members received 
prestigious awards. Also present were District Governor, Howard Templin, and Past District Governors Max Duplant, Larry Webb, Richard Gilman, Gilbert Brown, William Frew, LB Showalter, and John Moser.
Burton, a Rotarian since 1979 who resides in Oklahoma, has served Rotary in a vast number of capacities, including as President in 2013-2014. During his term, the theme “Engage Rotary, Change Lives” served as the foundation as the Rotary sought to continue their mission to promote peace, fight disease and provide communities with clean, safe water and hygienic practices.
“Having opportunity to do those things is a blessing” shared Burton as he acknowledged the many roles and ways the Rotary impacts lives. Further adding, “No organization has a better vehicle to accomplish this.”
Recognized as Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation, were Larry Parks and John Curtis, whose contributions have been essential to life-changing Foundation programs. The national and international programs include disaster response, continued polio eradication, vocational training in South Africa, water filters and other hygienic processes in India, and much more. Parks and Curtis join fellow Rockwall Rotarians Greg Blair, Tim Hartley, David and Kathy Howe, Tom Dortch, Pete Snider, as Major Donors.
Finally, special recognition was given to the Rockwall Rotary Club as a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club, which signifies 100% of the club membership having been named a Paul Harris Fellow, donating to the Foundation. This recognition is of particular acclaim being that only 4409 clubs worldwide of the 46,000 Rotary Clubs in total have achieved this honor. The Paul Harris Fellow award is named after the vision of Rotary founder, Paul Harris.
