FATE, TX (August 3, 2023) – It is with great appreciation for his service to the community that we announce Jon Thatcher, Fate’s City Attorney, has accepted the position of City Attorney for Forney, Tx. Mr. Thatcher has been an integral part of our organization since he joined us in 2021 and his presence will be sorely missed. He served professionally but connected with people personally, blessing our organization with his expertise and guidance over the past two years.
Jon was the first in-house attorney employed by the City of Fate. He guided the city as it dealt with the challenges and opportunities that come with a fast-growing community. He elevated the level of service that the city provides to its residents. Jon remains a long-time Fate resident where he plans to continue raising his family.
“We are so grateful and blessed to have had such a talented attorney working on behalf of Fate,” said Mayor David Billings. “Jon has truly made a difference in our community through his service to this city; we thank him for all he’s done and wish him the best in all future endeavors.”
City Manager Michael Kovacs also expressed appreciation for Jon’s work: “Jon Thatcher brought professionalism to every task put before him while in Fate – from legal advice to strategic planning initiatives – it was always evident how much care he took when representing this city.”
The City Council has already engaged an interim city attorney while they search for a full-time replacement who can fill these big shoes left by Mr. Thatcher’s departure. We hope you will join us in wishing Jon well as he embarks on new adventures! His last day with the City of Fate will be on August 25th.
