Rockwall, TX (December 11, 2023) – The Rowlett Quilt Guild presented 320 homemade placemats to Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County on December 6, 2023. These placemats will be given as Christmas presents to each senior that is homebound and receiving their meals at home. Many of these seniors are not able to attend any of the functions that the Meals on Wheels provides.
The quilt guild has made many homemade quilts for Meals on Wheels during the year. We decided that a special gift at Christmas might bring a smile to these seniors. Its always nice to have something homemade and we felt that a placemat was something they could enjoy throughout the year. During our charity work days, we loved making these placemats and we hope the senior men and women will enjoy them also.
Our guild is very active in many charity events during the year. We have made numerous baby quilts for the Medical City NICU, adult and children quilts for Denton State School, The Abused Women and Children centers in the area and the Linus Quilt Project.
We always have room for one more person to join us. We meet at First United Methodist Church of Rowlett once a month on the 3rd Saturday at 9:30am for social time and the formal meeting starts at 10:00am.
