Lone Star CASA celebrates community support

Rockwall, TX (January 8, 2024)  – Prior to the New Year, multiple local businesses, community groups, volunteers, and generous individuals came together in support of Lone Star CASA’s mission this holiday season. During a month-long fundraiser called Cheers for CASA, local businesses collectively donated over $7,000. Compared to last year’s Cheers for CASA fundraiser, Lone Star CASA grew business participation by 800%. This increase in partnerships included small, local businesses like Heath Boba & Desserts, It’s Fate Creamery, and Especially for You Gift Shop and Tea Room.

In the spirit of holiday giving, individuals and community groups donated gift cards, toys, books, games, toiletries, winter clothing, and household items. Volunteers contributed invaluable time sorting and delivering gifts to kids and families in the care of Lone Star CASA. Lone Star CASA served 121 kids ranging in age from infant to young adult with a bounty of Christmas gifts and stockings with help from organizations like Toys for Tots and Lakeside Charity League – Boys Team Class of 2007. Executive Director Lauren Rowe stated that, “The community support we’ve received over the last two months is inspiring and deeply appreciated. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Lone Star CASA, and by extension the kids we serve this past holiday season.”

Lone Star CASA strives to elevate the voices of children in Kaufman and Rockwall County who have experienced abuse and neglect by providing trained volunteer advocates to work alongside children and families so they can achieve safety and stability to fulfill their potential.

It’s not too late to make a difference in your community like the businesses, community groups, and individuals involved with Lone Star CASA this past holiday season. Please consider helping a child glimpse into a brighter future by giving at lonestarcasa.org/donate/ or visit lonestarcasa.org/volunteer/ to learn about becoming an advocate. The next information session is January 16th at 6 pm at 108 Kenway St. Rockwall TX 75087. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP at info@lonestarcasa.org.
