Rockwall ISD Board Trustee to seek re-election

Rockwall, TX (January 25, 2024) – Rockwall ISD Board Trustee Dr. Sherry Packer announced that she will seek re-election for Place 1 in the May 4th election. Dr. Packer currently serves as the Secretary for the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees, and is completing her first three-year term.

During her first term, Dr. Packer was selected as the board representative for the Rockwall Education Foundation. The foundation provides innovative teaching grants to support high academic standards in Rockwall ISD. Additionally, Dr. Packer was selected as the board representative to the Rockwall County Juvenile Services.

“It’s been an honor to serve the community for the past three years. Over the past 38 years, I’ve watched this district grow and maintain its academic excellence. I look forward to serving the families and teachers of Rockwall and ensuring Rockwall ISD continues to be a top-rated district,” said Dr. Packer.

As a retired principal from Rockwall ISD, Dr. Packer has a total of 34 years of experience in education serving in various roles including: high school math teacher, high school volleyball and basketball coach, independent math consultant for Region X Education Service Center, Assistant Principal, Middle School Summer School Principal, Quest Academy Principal, and Rochell Elementary Principal.  As Dr. Packer’s two daughters attended Rockwall schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade, she actively volunteered as room mom, PTA member, PTA President, and Academic Booster Club President. She brings a broad and balanced perspective to the school board with experience as a parent, volunteer, teacher, and principal. Dr. Packer is currently serving as an active member of the Rockwall County chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  She holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Supervision.  Dr. Packer currently has one grandson attending school in RISD.
