Rockwall High School Senior Stingerette: Sophia Gonzalez

Rockwall, TX (April 30, 2024) – Sophia Gonzalez is our next Stingerette Senior Spotlight. Sophia is the daughter of Donald and Cheryl LaFlame and Victor Gonzalez. She is a three-year member of the team and currently serves as Chaplain.

Sophia was named Stingerette of the Week this year. In the two previous years she was awarded Star Dancer, Spirit Stick, Miss Yes Ma’am and Positive Polly. She was voted Most Outstanding Attitude by the team in 2022 and 2023, as well as Rookie of the Year her sophomore year. Sophia is a two-year member of Kick Company and was part of Hip Hop Company her sophomore year.

She was a member of the Jacket Babe JV Drill Team her freshman year and was named Jacket Babe of the Year in 2020. That team earned the ADTS National Champion JV Team title and ADTS Best of the Best Team.

Outside of school Sophia is a six-year member of the Lone Star Chapter of National Charity League where she has volunteered with many organizations including Rockwall County Library, Rockwall Pets, Women in Need, and Rockwall Community Playhouse. She was recognized with the Lone Star Chapter Class of 2024 Senior Service Award for serving over 460 hours in the community and also earned a Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2023 and 2024.

Sophia has loved working at the Blasé Family Farm the past two summers during blueberry season. The many great memories she has made with the amazing friends is what she will cherish most about her time with Stingerettes.

In the Fall, Sophia will attend Baylor University to study Communication Science Disorders and plans to become a Speech Language Pathologist.
