Rockwall, TX (May 30, 2024) – Eliana Ortiz is our next Senior Spotlight. She is the daughter of Marissa and Jose Ortiz. She is a three-year member of the team and is Senior Lieutenant this year.
As a junior, Eliana was a Lieutenant on the officer line. Eliana has been a member Hip Hop Company and the Showstoppers Elite Team all three years on the team. She scored among the Top Five at line tryouts in 2021. She has also been recognized as a Star Dancer of the Week and has been voted Most Creative and Best Jazz Dancer by her teammates.
She danced this year at the ADTS 2023-2024 Nationals with the team; earning first place as a Super Team and Best of the Best Team overall at the contest. The team also placed second in the International Division. They received special recognition with the Wow Award in the Production Category and were named a Wish Come True Team.
For their accomplishments at nationals in March, the team was recognized with the RISD Board of Trustees Award for the second year in a row. Eliana also placed as First Runner Up in the Solo Division at the ADTS Nationals, as well.
Ellie danced with the officers and Showstoppers Elite Team which won National Champion and Best of the Best titles at the ADTS Nationals. In addition, both groups won first place and achieved Best of the Best at the MA Regionals this year.
As a freshman, Eliana was a Lieutenant on the JV Jacket Babe Drill Team. The team won first place at the ADTS Nationals that year, earning a National Champion title and Best of the Best Team and officers. Individually, she was also an ADTS Solo Champion that year.
Outside of school, she has been dancing with the Dance FX Studio for nine years and is currently a member of their Senior Company. This team won first place and Best of the Best in the private studio division and first place in the International Division at the ADTS Nationals in March of this year. In 2022 Eliana joined the team dancing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and was featured in the Mariah Carey televised finale of the parade.
Eliana will be attending Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall to pursue a degree in architectural/interior design. She will be dancing on the SFA Pom Squad.
