Rockwall, TX (May 20, 2024) – Our next Stingerette Senior Spotlight is Maya Rodriguez. Maya is the daughter of Candie and Julian Rodriguez and a three-year member of the team. She currently serves as a Rockwall Dance Instructor working with the middle school drill teams.
As a junior, Maya held the position of Spirit Girl on Social Council. She participated in Tap Company the past two years and was named Stingerette of the Week this year. During her time with the team, she was also awarded Star Dancer, Positive Polly and Spirit Girl of the Week. She was voted Most Spirited by her teammates for 2023.
She danced at this year’s ADTS 2023-2024 Nationals with the team; earning first place as a Super Team and Best of the Best Team overall at the contest. The team earned the Wow Award in the Production Category and was named A Wish Come True Team. They also placed second in the International Division. As an RDI, Maya also danced with the JVI/RDI squad which won a second National Champion title at the ADTS Nationals.
Maya was a member of the Jacket Babe Junior Varsity Drill Team during her freshman year. This team also earned the title of National Champion and Best of the Best Team at ADTS Nationals in 2021.
In school, Maya is a three-year member of the National Honor Society. She is also a six-year member of the Lone Star Chapter of National Charity League where she spends time volunteering in the community with her mother and sister.
Late night practices for spring show and contest are among Maya’s favorite memories with Stingerettes. She enjoyed spending time with her best friends practicing and painting.
Maya will be attending Dallas Baptist University in the fall to pursue a degree in Elementary Education to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher.
