Rockwall Noon Rotary annual Clay Shoot raises record amount for Rockwall ISD scholarships

Rockwall, TX (June 6, 2024) – Friday, May 31 was the perfect day for the Rockwall Noon Rotary to hold their annual Clay Shoot raising funds to support Rockwall ISD scholarships. Premier sponsor, OMi, a national crane manufacturer, helped make the event one of the largest and most successful the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club has hosted.

“I am very proud of all the hard work that our Rotarians put in to host this successful event” says Lorne Liechty, president of the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club. “The purpose was to raise money for college scholarships for high school seniors, which highlights our Club’s commitment to helping students in the Rockwall Independent School District.”

Despite the recent storms, the weather held off for the shooters to take to their stands at Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell.

Taking home first place honors was Team 9, sponsored by the Law Office of Tim Hartley, which included members of the City of Heath Department of Public Safety, Police Chief Brandon Seery, Dallas Talley, Joe Willis, and Casey Nation with a winning score of 278! RW Realtors’ Team 1 proudly walked away with a second-place score of 261.

The individual shooter competition remained tight throughout the competition with the final top three Jeff Lutes (83), Brian Cawthon (81), Casey Nation (78) taking home bragging rights.

Lunch, sponsored by Baylor Scott & White, and an after-party rounded out the event. Two very exciting raffle drawings held afterwards, drew the attention of attendees and online participants, offering a choice of two possible shotguns, a Beretta A400 XTREME Plus 12-gauge Mossy Oak Bottomland and a Charles Daley 335 Field Pump 12-gauge from B-Tactical, perfect for practicing for next year’s event, and another serving up rare bottles of whiskey. Tickets were in demand and lucky recipients Brandon Seery and Chris Dorward received coveted treasures for a great cause. Taking home winning spirits were Ketan Parekh, Stan Britton, Greg Gunnaway, Brandt Jenkins, Mike Purk, Stacy Massar, Mark Russell, Don Maddran, Scott Roseberry, Kurt Klepshch, Greg Blair, Sheri Parks, Tom Norris, John Parigi, Tim Hartley, Brooks Helmer, Mitch Ownby, Dave Howe, Scott Ettinger, and Trace Reed.

Carrying out their motto of “Service Above Self”, the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club was overjoyed to raise close to $50,000 for Rockwall ISD students from this event!

Mark Kipphut, chairperson for the event said, “this represents a 50% increase in scholarships offered by the Rockwall Noon Rotary Club. We are very pleased and proud of the support we received from our sponsors and the Rockwall community.”
