Rockwall, TX (August 14, 2024) – For over three decades, the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center has brought together businesses of all sizes to welcome the new teachers and employees of Rockwall ISD to our community. This year’s RISD New Teacher & Employee Expo included two sessions (elementary and secondary) on July 30 at Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy, presented by Timpa Law Office.
Keynote speakers were Ashley Hartwell, District Elementary Teacher of the Year, Howard Dobbs Elementary; and Allison Huck, District Secondary Teacher of the Year, Utley Middle School. Other speakers included Shane Hollas, MAACO Rockwall; Rockwall Mayor Trace Johanessen; State Representative Justin Holland; Judge Stephani Woodward; Dr. Nilpesh Patel and Lauren Podina, Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas; Dr. John Villarreal, RISD Superintendent; Dr. Mary Johnston, Chief Academic Officer of Elementary Schools; and Dr. Megan Gist, Chief Academic Officer of Secondary Schools; with closing remarks by Darby Neilsen, IOM, Rockwall Chamber.
Expo Committee members included Stacey Conner, Awestruck Design Co.; Maya Crowsey, Freshly Clean; Patti Faulhaber, PLF Art Services; Tammy Ledbetter, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP; and Alexandria Pigg, New York Life.
