ROCKWALL, TX (September 9, 2024) — In honor of National 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, JustServe.org is helping connect the community to a variety of opportunities to give back in unity. This important day, which was designated to transform the tragedy of September 11, 2001, into a day of compassion, service, and remembrance, provides numerous opportunities for individuals, families, and groups to make a meaningful impact.
Local residents are encouraged to take part in a variety of volunteer opportunities across the community. A few opportunities include:
- North Texas Food Bank Peanut Butter Drive – Throughout September – Join in the fight against hunger by donating a jar of peanut butter at one of the donation boxes located at Rockwall Fire Stations 1, 2, 3, or 4 and Fate City Hall.
- 9/11 Day Meal Packing Event – Wednesday, September 11th – Help build community and combat food insecurity by volunteering in a variety of support staff positions to pack meals for those in need.
- American Red Cross Blood Drive – Saturday, September 28th – Be a hero! Save a life by donating blood at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Meetinghouse located at 8201 Garner Rd, Rowlett, TX 75088 between 9:00am-3:00pm.
- JustServe.org – Ongoing – Get involved and find additional opportunities to serve on JustServe.org by searching for options near you.
JustServe.org is a website sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that brings together volunteers with organizations in need of help. JustServe.org has partnered with organizations across the globe to help people find projects in their own backyard. Dozens of 9/11 Day service opportunities can be found all around the DFW area on Just Serve to help you remember, honor, and serve.
The 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance is not just about reflecting on the past but also about moving forward with healing and purpose. Volunteering this month is a powerful reminder of the strength that communities can find in working together to create positive change.
