Update from Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees meeting Monday, September 16

Academics Update
District leaders presented information about the variety of academic programs offered for students. Trustees were provided an academic update related to the following:
• Summer Program Student Participation
• ROCK Afterschool Program
• RHS9 and RHHS9 Campus Opening
• Middle School #4
• JROTC Program
• STAAR Redesign

Board Approves Purchase Pursuant to Board Policy CH Local for Purchase in Excess of $100,000 from Board-Approved Cooperative Purchasing Program for Expansion of Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Storage Capacity
The Board of Trustees approved the purchase to expand Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Storage Capacity.

Approval of a Resolution Nominating a Candidate(s) to Serve on the Board of Directors of the Rockwall Central Appraisal District
Per Texas Property Code, Texas Property Tax Code Sec. 6.03(g)m “Each taxing unit . . . that is entitled to vote may nominate by resolution adopted by its governing body one candidate for each position to be filled on the board of directors. The presiding officer of the governing body of the unit shall submit the names of the unit’s nominees to the chief appraiser before October 15.”

Board Approves Texas Education Agency Waiver The Board of Trustees approved a Texas Education Agency class size waiver for 39 elementary classrooms across the District.

Board Approves Contracts for Election Services
The Board of Trustees approved the contracts for election services with Rockwall County, Kaufman County and Collin County. November 5, 2024, is designated by the state of Texas as the date for a general election, which includes Proposition A Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election, and Propositions B, C and D Issuance of Bonds by the Rockwall Independent School District. The District will contract with Rockwall County, Kaufman County and Collin County and will coordinate with the Election Administrators of each county.
