Rib Rub Run & Roll wraps up with outstanding community participation

Rockwall, TX (October 24, 2024) – The City of Rockwall’s annual Rib Rub Run and Roll event, held Oct. 5 at Harry Myers Park, celebrated another successful year with community and visitor participation at an all-time high. The event attracted over 325 racers, 24 BBQ competitors, and more than 90 car show entrants, making it one of the most engaging community gatherings of the year.

The day kicked off with spirited races in the morning, where participants of all ages competed in 1 Mile, 5K, and 10K runs. Congratulations to our top finishers! 5K Overall Winner: Chance Anderson and 10K Overall Winner: Chris Mullins.Following the races, the BBQ competition heated up with 25 competitors showcasing their grilling skills. Participants battled it out in categories including Spare Ribs, ½ Chicken, and Brisket, with the aromatic flavors drawing a large crowd. Congratulations to our BBQ champions! Grand Champion: Ben Blanton with HB BBQ, and Reserve Grand Champion: Sean Hill with Texas Moonswiners.

The Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Car Show brought together over 90 participants displaying everything from vintage classics to modern customs, and even a DeLorean. The downtown area was transformed into a vibrant exhibition space where car enthusiasts shared stories, admired each other’s vehicles, and enjoyed the camaraderie. Congratulations to Best of Show Winner, ’32 Ford Roadster by Interstate Classic Cars, and People’s Choice Winner, ’75 Toyota Land Cruiser by Jeff Williams.

The day also featured a children’s pedal car race, adding a dash of cuteness and competition as the little ones raced in creatively decorated pedal cars provided by local merchants. Each child participant left with a ribbon and a day full of memories.The City of Rockwall thanks all participants, volunteers, and sponsors who helped make the Rib Rub Run and Roll a memorable event.
