Rockwall, TX (October 1, 2024) – The wildfires that devastated west Texas in the spring of 2024 burned well over one million acres, causing destruction to farms, ranches, and a way of life with the loss of homes, several lives, and thousands of livestock. Lee Wells of Rockwall’s Wells Cattle Co. knew the ranchers needed help and set out with a team.
We’re Here is the result of Wells’ experience and the stories he and his team heard. The documentary premiered August 24, 2024 in the west Texas town of Pampa, ground zero for the massive wildfires, and has toured several counties. Tickets are available for the local showing scheduled for October 18 at 7:30pm the Greenville Municipal Auditorium.
“On March 13, 2024, we loaded up my flatbed trailer with the maximum load of feed and a camera crew and headed to the Texas Panhandle. Our aim was to provide support to our ranchers and let them tell their personal accounts of the record-breaking wildfires. After two long days and seven full-length interviews in three devastated counties, we had a story to tell” says Lee Wells. “Out of the fire and ash, we found resounding human resilience, determination, and a deep-rooted love for others.”
The documentary speaks to the perseverance of the Texas panhandle cattle rancher – and how others step up to say, “we’re here” when needed.
