Rockwall, TX (November 24, 2024) – Did you know that since its inception in 1973, Rockwall Women’s League has raised more than $4 million in grants and scholarships for the benefit of Rockwall County residents?!
RWL’s main fundraisers are their annual charity ball in the spring, and a Big Hat luncheon held in the fall. This year, the Big Hats & Big Bands-themed event was chaired by April Garcia and drew hundreds of ladies to the Rockwall Hilton on Nov. 1. The afternoon was capped off with awards presented to:
- Xandra Blevins – Miss Hattie (Best Overall Hat)
- Mercedes de Flores – Best Vegas Hat (The Rat Pack)
- Lisa Laspas – Best Patriotic Hat
- Diana Francino – Best Musical Hat (The Swing)
- Janet Hales – Best Vintage Hat (The Blitz)
- Whitley Bolton – Busiest Hat (The Spam)
- Stacey Traa – Best Small Hat (The Ration)
Next up, be sure to stop by the RWL’s Cookie Factory at the City of Rockwall Tree Lighting, set for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at City Hall, 385 S. Goliad St. Also mark your calendar for RWL’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’ Gala, coming up April 12, 2025 and chaired by Whitney Bietendorf.
