Rockwall, TX (December 12, 2024) – The streets of Downtown Rockwall came alive on Saturday, December 7, 2024, for the annual Hometown Christmas, bringing together families, friends, and local businesses for a day full of festive fun and community spirit. Despite the weather challenges, the event was a spectacular success, showcasing the creativity and holiday cheer of our community.
This year’s parade floats embraced the theme, “My Favorite Christmas Movie,” and the competition was fierce as participants dazzled the crowd with their imaginative displays. After much deliberation, the following winners were announced:
Best Theme: Providence Academy
Mayor’s Award: Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department
Best Corporate Award: Rockwall Crossing Orthodontics
Small Fry Award: Rockwall Children’s Advocacy Center
“We are so proud of everyone who participated and brought their holiday spirit to life,” said Tarren Oswald, Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County Club President “This event is a testament to the amazing community we have here in Rockwall.”
Following the parade, the festivities continued in Downtown Rockwall with a variety of free activities for families to enjoy. Guests delighted in food trucks, holiday shopping, and photos with Santa in front of the stunning 24-foot Christmas tree. Kids had a blast sliding down the snow hill, bouncing in inflatable gingerbread houses, and participating in holiday crafts. Musical performances from local schools and bands added a festive soundtrack to the day, while the Find Frosty Scavenger Hunt kept young adventurers entertained.
The evening concluded with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, where attendees enjoyed live music, hot chocolate, cookies, and crafts in a cozy indoor setting due to the weather. Santa himself made a special appearance, spreading holiday cheer to children and families as the beautifully lit tree became the centerpiece of the night. We are thankful for the Rockwall Women’s League for supplying hundreds of cookies for the community for over 30 years.
