Rockwall, TX (December 19, 2024) – Ron Merritt’s last day in the office will be Friday after 25 years of dedicated service to Rockwall County. He was hired as the Environmental Health Chief Assistant on April 3, 2000, and was promoted to Environmental Health Coordinator in 2005. Throughout his career, Ron has worked under four different county judges.
Denise Matthews served as the Environmental Health Chief Assistant alongside Ron for 22 years before Charisa Hauser took over after Denise’s retirement. Charisa shared her sentiments, saying, “Ron has served his time well and is ready and deserving of reaping the rewards of his years of service.” She continued, “I have gained a lifelong friend, and I am so happy for you as you enter this next phase of life.”
Judge Frank New expressed his gratitude to Ron for his dedication to protecting the county from overdevelopment, remarking, “We are better off because of his efforts. He has earned a peaceful retirement.”
Ron says he will miss interacting with the county employees, especially the staff at the Whitmore Building. He takes pride in serving the county for so long and is now looking forward to spending more time in Oklahoma and fishing more often.
Seasons come and go, but your legacy is forever. Thank you and best wishes in the future.
