Rockwall, TX (March 7, 2025) – Eleven fashion design students from the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy have advanced to the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Fashion Design state competition.
The 2024-2025 FCCLA Fashion Design competition team, which consisted of 13 team members, traveled to Waco, Texas, on February 6-8 to attend the FCCLA regionals Fashion Design competition. All 13 members competed in four categories of Fashion Design and Fashion Construction. Of the 13 students, 11 are advancing to the 2024-2025 FCCLA state fashion design competition on April 10-13 in Dallas.
Students placed 1st and 2nd in 3 Fashion Design categories. In Fashion Construction, Level 2, the team placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. This is an intense Fashion Design competition in which students prepare a 45-page portfolio, mood boards, construction boards, and a 10-15-minute oral presentation to the judges regarding their project.
Reneé Aubé, FCCLA advisor, said she is proud of this hard-working group of outstanding students. “This is one of the most talented groups I have ever had the privilege to mentor coach,” she said. “The students work so hard throughout the year after school, on weekends and even during holidays.”
