Rockwall, TX (March 11, 2025) – The Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy’s Education and Training FCCLA chapter has achieved an incredible milestone at the recent regional competition, with all nine student competitors advancing to the state competition.
Six students competed in Education and Training-related events, showcasing their knowledge, leadership, and innovative ideas for the future of education. Their performances earned them a spot at the state level. Additionally, a team of three competed in the Interior Design category, demonstrating their creativity, technical skills, and ability to bring design concepts to life. Their impressive work earned them a place in the state competition.
All nine students will compete at the state level in April at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Dallas. They will compete against top students from across Texas, striving for excellence and the opportunity to advance to nationals in Orlando, FL.

Katy Johnson – 2nd place in Teaching Strategies Level 3
Sidney Reeves and Starr Sand – 3rd place Professional Presentation Level 3
Sophie Norwick and Gianna Wifflord – 5th place Focus on Children Level 2
