Rockwall, TX (March 6, 2025) – Longtime educator and dedicated community member, Katie Tanner, has officially announced her candidacy for Rockwall ISD School Board, Place 5, in the upcoming May 2025 election. With 30 years of teaching experience, including 15 years at Rockwall High School, Tanner brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to the students and families of Rockwall ISD.
Following her retirement, Tanner has remained actively involved in education by serving as a substitute teacher, including several long-term assignments at Rockwall High School. Her ongoing engagement with students and faculty has provided her with valuable insight into the district’s needs and opportunities.
“Being a part of Rockwall ISD as both a parent and teacher for the past 30 years has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and successes within our schools,” said Tanner. “I believe my experience and dedication to education will help guide Rockwall ISD in the right direction, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students, teachers, and community.”
Katie Tanner and her husband, Steve, have been proud Rockwall residents since 1992. Their three sons, Andy, Matthew, and David, graduated from Rockwall High School/Heath High School, and her grandchildren will soon be attending Rockwall ISD schools, further solidifying her investment in the district’s future.
Tanner is committed to fostering transparency, advocating for teachers and students, and ensuring that Rockwall ISD continues to provide a high-quality education for all. She encourages residents to support her candidacy and participate in the May 2025 election.
