Lone Star CASA invites the community to participate in Blue Sunday

Rockwall, TX (April 23, 2025) – Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is proud to invite the community to join us in observing Blue Sunday, a National Day of Prayer dedicated to raising awareness and praying for abused and neglected children. This year, Blue Sunday will take place on April 27, 2025, and we encourage faith communities across Kaufman and Rockwall counties to get involved.

Blue Sunday was founded in 1998 by the nonprofit organization Blue Sunday Child Abuse Prevention. It is held annually on the last Sunday of April, with the goal of raising awareness about child abuse and neglect and encouraging action to help the most vulnerable children in our communities. Churches and individuals across the nation participate by offering prayers, organizing events, and supporting local organizations that work on behalf of children in need.

How You Can Participate
We invite your faith community to participate in Blue Sunday by holding a prayer service, raising awareness about child abuse, and supporting the efforts of organizations like Lone Star CASA. Here are some meaningful ways your church or organization can get involved:

  • Hold a Blue Sunday Prayer Service: Gather your congregation to pray for abused and neglected children. Distribute prayer cards to your congregation or have one of your members read a prayer during the service to support children affected by abuse and neglect. You can find some helpful materials such as prayer cards here.
  • Moment of Silence: At the beginning of your service, hold a moment of silence where each second of silence represents one child that Lone Star CASA has served in the past year, 214.
  • Volunteer & Donate: Encourage your congregation to volunteer with Lone Star CASA, donate funds to support child advocacy programs, or participate in community events aimed at raising awareness about child abuse.
  • Host an Information Session: Inviting CASA to speak at your church is an excellent way to get involved in Blue Sunday and raise awareness about the critical need for child advocacy in your community.
  • Education & Advocacy: Educate your community on the impact of child abuse and neglect, and advocate for stronger child protection laws.
