Rockwall-Heath & Rockwall High School students headed to FIRST Nationals with support from Optimum

Rockwall, TX (April 11, 2025) – Next week, two teams from Rockwall ISD are headed to the FIRST Robotics Nationals Taking place in Houston, TX on April 16 – 19, 2025!

• “Black Hawk Robotics” from Rockwall-Heath High School
• “Full Metal Jackets” from Rockwall High School

These two groups of creative students are headed to nationals following successful regional competitions. Each team received $2k from Optimum to build their robot for the initial competitions. Optimum’s support to this team helped supply resources and tools needed to build and program a robot to perform. An additional $1,000 was distributed to each team to prepare for nationals ($3k total for each team).

FIRST is a robotics community where each year FIRST teams build and program a robot to perform the season’s challenge, and this year’s ocean-inspired challenge is REEFSCAPE. Throughout the season, students learn engineering and problem-solving skills as they compete for awards, create a team identity, raise funds, hone teamwork skills, and advance appreciation for STEM in their community.
