TXDOT announces Rockwall County lane closures set to begin on April 27

ROCKWALL COUNTY (April 25, 2025) – Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has announced various lane closures and improvement projects throughout Rockwall County set begin on April 27.

Lane Closures along I-30 in Rockwall County

The following lane closures are scheduled as part of an ongoing I-30 improvement project:

• The eastbound I-30 frontage road will shift between FM 740 and SH 205 beginning 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27 through early spring 2026.
• All lanes of westbound I-30 will be detoured to the frontage road at Horizon Road from 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 through 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 30.
•  Horizon Road at I-30 and Ridge Road at I-30 will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 through 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 30.
• The westbound I-30 on-ramp at Erby Campbell will shift to a new location east of FM 551 beginning 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 through the remainder of the project.
• All lanes of westbound I-30 will shift between Erby Campbell and FM 551 from 9 p.m. Friday, May 2 to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3.
• Eastbound I-30 will be narrowed to one lane at FM 3549 from 9 p.m. Friday, May 2 to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

As a part of the $348 million I-30 corridor expansion project, I-30 will widen and add continuous frontage roads throughout Rockwall County. The other $313 million I-30 corridor expansion project, will add new frontage road bridges across Lake Ray Hubbard from Dalrock Road and SH 205.  The work is part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes effort to relieve congestion in major metropolitan areas.

SH 205 Improvement Project at SH 66

Various lanes of SH 205 will be closed between SH 66 and the Collin County line from 9 p.m. Sunday, April 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, April 28 and also intermittently through 2025 as part of a surface rehabilitation project. The $4.2 million project was awarded to Texas Materials Group, Inc. and is scheduled to be completed in late 2025. 

Drivers will need to plan extra time and use caution throughout the work zones.
