Rockwall, TX (May 5, 2025) – Caregiving can be a demanding job – it’s almost impossible to take on alone. The emotional, physical, and mental toll can leave you feeling exhausted. If you need a break, the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging provides temporary relief for family caregivers. Eligible family members receive vouchers that may be used to purchase in-home or institutional care.
The Caregiver Respite program gives family caregivers a temporary break from their caregiving responsibilities. It issues vouchers to caregivers so they can make arrangements with providers they trust. The standard one-time benefit is $800, which can be used all at once or gradually over a three-month period.
Resources are available at https://www.nctcog.org/aging-services/caregivers/caregiver-support-and-respite-services. Here, you will find Respite Voucher Program Guidelines and an application. Programs are available for Caregiver support, Grandparent support, and other local and state services for family caregivers.
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging contracts with local organizations to provide nutrition services, including home-delivered and congregate meals and transportation services to support those in the caregiving role. Transportation is available by reservation only and within county limits. Take Time Texas is a clearinghouse of resources for family caregivers for people of all ages.
