Recognition of Trustee Jim White for 12 Years of Service
The Board of Trustees recognized Mr. Jim White for his twelve years of dedicated service. Mr. White served four consecutive terms, beginning in May 2013 and concluding in May 2025. During his tenure, he also served as Board Secretary, exemplifying leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the students and families of Rockwall ISD.
As a Trustee, Mr. White was a vital part of the governance team that guided the District through significant milestones, including managing rapid student enrollment growth, ensuring academic excellence, and overseeing significant capital improvement efforts. Under his leadership, the District completed the 2015 bond program, successfully passed the 2021 bond, and opened eleven new facilities: four new elementary schools, three replacement elementary schools, one new middle school, two ninth-grade campuses, and the District’s first College and Career Academy—all while maintaining fiscal responsibility and achieving the lowest tax rate in Rockwall ISD history.
Notable accomplishments during Mr. White’s tenure as a Trustee include:
- Supporting student enrollment growth from 14,359 in 2013 to more than 19,000 in 2025;
- Playing a key role in bond initiatives that resulted in eleven new or expanded campuses;
- Lowered the tax rate by 44¢ from $1.46 in 2013 to $1.02 in 2025;
- Advancing academic opportunities, with approximately 60% of 5th and 6th-grade students participating in advanced math pathways;
- Encouraging well-rounded student involvement, with 97% of grades 7–12 students engaged in Fine Arts, CTE, or Athletics;
- Contributing to the District’s recognition as a 2019 Top Five Honor Board in Texas;
- Supporting a graduation rate of 99%, among the highest in the region;
- Participating in 204 board meetings, totaling over 612 hours of service in regular, workshop, and special sessions; and
- Attending 44 graduation ceremonies and personally congratulating approximately 14,085 graduating seniors.
Stan Britton and Dr. Steve Albers Take Oath of Office Following May 3rd Election
The newly elected Board of Trustees took their oaths of office. Mr. Stan Britton was re-elected to serve as Trustee for Place 4, continuing his service to the community. Dr. Steve Albers was elected to step into the Place 5 position, succeeding Jim White, who retired after 12 years of service on the Board.
