John King Boulevard to close at I-30 starting June 7

Rockwall County (June 6, 2025) – Weather permitting, all lanes of John King Boulevard will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, June 7 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 9 for bridge work as part of the ongoing I-30 corridor expansion project. Local traffic will be detoured. Eastbound I-30 will be narrowed to one lane at John King Blvd. from 9 p.m. Saturday, June 7 to 5 a.m. Sunday, June 8 and again from 9 p.m. Sunday June 8 through 5 a.m. Monday, June 9.  Drivers can expect delays and will need to plan extra travel time.

As a part of the $348 million I-30 corridor expansion project, I-30 will widen and add continuous frontage roads throughout Rockwall County. The other $313 million I-30 corridor expansion project, will add new frontage road bridges across Lake Ray Hubbard from Dalrock Road and SH 205.  The work is part of TxDOT’s Texas Clear Lanes effort to relieve congestion in major metropolitan areas.
