Never Forget: Rockwall CERT planning annual 9/11 Memorial Run/Walk

Rockwall, TX (August 15, 2025) – It has been 24 years since the attacks on September 11, 2001. For the past 12 years, a 9/11 Memorial Run in Rockwall has exemplified the 9/11 motto “We Will Never Forget!”.

This year the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) invites those who would like to continue fulfilling the 9/11 commitment to “Never Forget” and be part of the 9/11 Memorial Run/Walk on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the track by the Rockwall County Library/Courthouse.

This special community event pays tribute to the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call on September 11, 2001. Whether you run or walk your participation helps keep their memories alive.

Opening ceremony begins at 8:15 AM followed by the event start at 8:47 AM, the time the first FDNY unit arrived. Along the walk, which is 3.43 miles in honor of the 343 FDNY firefighters, you will also participate in 23 push-ups to honor the 23 NYPD officers and 37 sit-ups to honor the 37 NY/NJ Port Authority officers that all lost their lives that day.

Let’s come together in unity, reverence, remembrance, and hope for the future.
