Wylie, TX (September 12, 2025) – In the world of exotic animal care, innovation and vigilance go hand in hand. The health and safety of residents – lions, tigers, lemurs, bobcats, cougars, leopards and so many more – depend on the tireless dedication of those who care for them. At In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue & Educational Center, a sanctuary renowned for its unwavering commitment to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, a new chapter has begun with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art gas sterilizer. This technological addition marks a significant stride in elevating the standards of medical care and infection control for the sanctuary’s residents.
Sterilization is a cornerstone of modern medicine. It involves the elimination of all forms of microbial life, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, from surgical instruments and medical environments. The residents of In-Sync Exotics often arrive with a history of trauma, neglect, or illness, and many require complex medical interventions. Whether performing routine vaccinations, wound care or even emergency surgeries, the staff must ensure that every tool and surface is impeccably clean.
The previous sterilization situation at In-Sync Exotics, while effective, had its issues. Dr. Stephanie LaGrone, Resident Veterinarian at In-sync Exotics, was required to move equipment needing sterilization from a partner facility back to the sanctuary which could result in broken equipment, contamination and many other issues. Traditional systems, which use steam under pressure, are robust but not suitable for all materials. Some delicate instruments cannot withstand the high temperatures, leaving gaps in infection control. Recognizing this, the sanctuary sought out a solution that could rise to the challenge—a gas sterilizer.

That’s where some very generous people stepped up to make this dream become a reality for Dr. Stephanie. Larry and Pam offered to donate half the cost of the new gas sterilizer, challenging us to find matching donor(s) for the other half. The challenge was accepted by Tigers in America and a long-time (anonymous) supporter that understood the need for the quality of care our cats deserve.
The arrival of the new gas sterilizer at In-Sync Exotics has sparked a quiet revolution in animal care at the sanctuary. In a world where the well-being of exotic animals is often imperiled, In-Sync Exotics stands as a beacon, showing what is possible when innovation is paired with empathy.
Through the investment of their amazing donors, the sanctuary ensures that their residents are protected, their medical interventions are safe, and their mission continues—one clean instrument, one healed animal, and one act of kindness at a time.
