Rockwall County Republican Chair, Sharon Henson, will not seek re-election

Rockwall County, TX (September 4, 2025) – Through prayer and consideration with my wonderful family, I will not seek re-election as County Chair for the Republican Party of Rockwall County in 2026. I am so very thankful for the honor of serving Rockwall County Republican voters as County Chair for these last 4 years and I will continue to serve wholeheartedly through the end of my term in June 2026.

Working alongside fellow conservatives in this great county to grow the strength of our local Republican Party has been the highest privilege of my professional life. It is truly inspiring to be part of something so much bigger than myself alone.

Together, we have built an active and vital Republican grassroots organization that is highly respected throughout the state of Texas for our unwavering commitment to Republican principles and priorities.  Our success is rooted in a foundation of grit, fortitude and tenacity of previous County Chairs and Precinct Chairs.

When I was first appointed to this position by the County Executive Committee in 2021, my theme was the lyrics from a contemporary Christian song “never stop, never stop working.”  Along with the scripture, “the joy of the Lord is my strength” I have been able to work with great people to accomplish great things for this community that we love so much.

Elected by voters in 2022 and 2024, I am proud of the many measures we have initiated to expand the Republican voter turnout here for the first time in 12 years, and to bring awareness, education and success to conservatism in Rockwall County. We chose to walk boldly on a journey for Christian-Judeo principles and traditional American values.

Thank you to the dedicated Precinct Chairs and County Executive Committee members who have tirelessly given of themselves to support me and all of the ideas and projects that I brought to them!  I thank my great kids and amazing husband, Richard, who has supported me and worked alongside me throughout it all.  Mostly, I thank my Lord and Savior for leading and strengthening me to do the tasks set before me.

I look forward with excitement to the continuation of hard work and much success when Republicans elect a new County Chair next March.
