Rockwall, TX (October 9, 2025) – On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Wagonwheel Drive for an investigation. The caller, 49-year-old Harold Jones, had indicated to telecommunication operators that he believed two individuals were inside his attic.
When the first officer arrived on scene, Mr. Jones, who was standing outside near a parked vehicle, shouted toward the officer and then began firing multiple rounds from a handgun in the officer’s direction. Mr. Jones fled into a nearby residence that was not his home but surrendered soon after.
No officers or the suspect was injured during the encounter, and no rounds were discharged by responding officers. Following the incident, officers contacted surrounding residents to ensure no bystanders were injured or homes damaged by the gunfire.
Mr. Jones was booked into the Rockwall County Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Against a Peace Officer, a first degree felony. Mr. Jones’ bond had been set at $2.5 million.
This incident remains under investigation by the Rockwall Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
