Young Men’s Service League Heath/Harbor Chapter partners with Special Olympics to host disc golf tournament

Rockwall, TX (October 1, 2025) – The Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) Heath/Harbor Chapter is proud to announce its partnership with Special Olympics to host a disc golf tournament on October 18 at Fox Chase Park in Rockwall.

Each year, the chapter selects an “Ultimate Gift” project in collaboration with local philanthropies in Rockwall and Dallas Counties. This year, the chapter unanimously approved a disc golf tournament to benefit local Special Olympics athletes.

“Many of our Special Olympics athletes have never had the opportunity to participate in a home disc golf tournament,” said Rose Antony, Rockwall County Special Olympics Coordinator. “It was something they wished for, and that wish became a proposal presented to the board. We’re thrilled to see it come to life.”

The tournament is open to all Area 10 (North Texas) Special Olympics athletes. “Disc golf is an emerging sport, and not all regions have established teams yet,” Antony added.

The 8-hole tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m., with lunch and an awards ceremony to follow at noon.

YMSL Chair Heidi Smith expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are excited to be partnering with Special Olympics this year for our Ultimate Gift.  Disc golf is a newer sport to Special Olympics and our young men have enjoyed the opportunity to help athletes learn the game.  This event perfectly reflects our mission of giving back and creating meaningful connections within our community. ”
