Rockwall, TX (December 8, 2025)– The Rockwall County Democratic Party (RCDP) announces that today is the final day for candidates to file for the 2026 Democratic Primary ballot.
All individuals interested in running for local or county office must file no later than 6:00 p.m. today at the address provided in the RCDP newsletter.
Local Democratic Candidates Step Forward to Serve
The RCDP is proud to share that three local Democrats have filed for office, demonstrating commitment, leadership, and a vision for a stronger, more inclusive Rockwall County and North Texas.
Susie Stansel — Filing for Re-Election as County Chair
Current RCDP Chair Susie Stansel has officially filed for re-election. If unopposed, she will continue her service as County Chair for another term. Susie has brought stability, growth, and renewed energy to the party, and we are proud to support her continued leadership.
Orlando Lopez — Candidate for Texas House District 33
Local advocate and community leader Orlando Lopez has fi led to run for Texas House District 33. The Rockwall County Democratic Party is deeply proud of Orlando, his wife, and their young family for stepping into this statewide arena. His leadership, values, and commitment to service represent the future of North Texas. Orlando brings integrity, compassion, and a strong vision for the district he hopes to serve.
Ericka Ledferd — Candidate for Texas State Board of Education, District 9
Educator and longtime public servant Ericka Ledferd has filed to run for the Texas State Board of Education, District 9. With an extensive background in secondary education, ESL leadership, curriculum development, and college-level instruction, Ericka is uniquely prepared for this role. Her decades of experience in public schools and higher education reflect her dedication to Texas students and her understanding of the challenges facing today’s classrooms. Her expertise makes her an exceptional fit for this critical statewide position.
