New Garbage and Recycling collection days begin in Rockwall on Monday, January 12

Rockwall, TX (January 8, 2026) – Beginning January 12, 2026 changes to Rockwall resident garbage and recycling collection are listed below.

Effective January 12, 2026:

·    Garbage and recycling will be collected one time per week

·    All residents should check the new schedule map to see their new collection day

·    Only Republic Services supplied carts will be emptied

  • Garbage: blue cart with black lid
  • Recycling: blue cart with light blue lid

·    Garbage and recycling carts must be placed at the curb or in the alley by 7:00 a.m. of your collection day. Your collection location has not changed

·    Carts should be 3 feet apart and away from other objects and each other

·    All materials must fit inside the cart with the lid fully closed

·    If you currently rent a Republic Services cart, it will be removed, continue to leave it out at your normal location until they pick it up

·    Small recycling bins and personal garbage cans may be kept for personal use but will no longer be emptied. If you don’t want to keep them, place them in your bulk pile during your designated week

Recycling Reminder

No need to place recycling items in a bag, leave loose, and place in the cart. Accepted items include:

·    Plastic bottles & jugs

·    Cardboard & paper

·    Glass

·    Metal cans

Plastic bags, food waste, batteries, electronics, and other non-approved items should not be placed in recycling carts.
