Terrell, TX (January 13, 2026) – Poetry Community Christian School (PCCS) welcomes Dr. Marcus Bellamy as a Corporate Officer of this nonprofit accredited educational ministry serving PK-12th families from a 40 mile radius of the school in Poetry. Dr. Marcus Bellamy holds a Doctorate of Strategic Leadership from Liberty University, Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in Christian Education from Bryan College.
Ministry has long been a part of Dr. Bellamy’s life when he began volunteering in youth ministry in Knoxville, TN. Since then he has served in various ministry positions and as the Pastor of Spiritual Development at the First Baptist Church in Texarkana. He has an interest in the business side of nonprofit leadership as well and acted as Business Administrator of a church in Grapevine for three years while finishing his master’s degree. Most recently, he served Head of School for Trinity Christian School in Texarkana.
When his family relocated to north Texas in 2025, they enrolled their son at PCCS. He and Dr. Horan began networking as they shared the same vision and mission for Christian education. He later accepted an invitation by the PCCS Board to serve as a Corporate Officer.
He believes “Christian Education is critical option for parents for a number of reasons. First, it partners with parents in pursuing their biblical responsibility to, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it’ (Proverbs 22:6). Christian Education is biblical, yet unique because it provides an educational environment that encourages students to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and become a mature follower of Christ (Matt. 28:18-20). Parents have the incredible opportunity to partner with Christian educators in helping their children develop critical thinking skills and a biblical worldview as the world and secular educational system continue to drift far away from God’s standards (2 Cor. 10:5). Additionally, parents have the opportunity to invest in the holistic well-being of their children (Deut. 6).”
Dr. Bellamy will partner with Dr. Horan, Kris Brown and the Administration with sage advice, fresh perspectives, and assistance in the Texas Tuition Voucher program as well as the school’s commitment to continuous improvement.
