Upcoming Election News: Rockwall City Council Election scheduled for May 2

Rockwall, TX (January 5, 2026) – The City of Rockwall is preparing for the upcoming City Council General Election, scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, for the purpose of electing three City Councilmembers – one each for Places 2, 4, and 6. Rockwall City Councilmembers are elected “at large” and serve a two-year term. This is an opportunity for community members who are passionate about Rockwall to step forward and serve. City Council responsibilities include providing responsible leadership, assisting with legislation and policy, and engaging with residents to ensure the city’s continued success in delivering a safe environment and high quality of life.

Important Dates

  • January 1, 2026 – First Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail
  • April 2, 2026 – Last Day to Register to Vote or Update Registration
  • April 20, 2026 – First Day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
  • April 20, 2026 – Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail
  • April 28, 2026 – Last Day of Early Voting by Personal Appearance
  • May 2, 2026 – Last Day to Receive Voted Ballot by Mail

Candidate Filing Information

City of Rockwall residents interested in running for a position on the City Council must be registered to vote and may file their candidacy during the following period:

  • Start Date: Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 8:00 AM
  • End Date: Friday, February 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM

Goliad on the 3rd floor, City Secretary’s Office) and online for download via the City Secretary’s webpage at https://www.rockwall.com/citysec.asp.
