Friends of Rescue Animals receives $2,000 grant for success in National Adoption Challenge

Rowlett, Texas (February 3, 2026) — Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) has been awarded a $2,000 grant from Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to saving cats and dogs in America’s shelters.

The grant recognizes FRAs’ efforts to increase pet adoptions through completing the Best Friends Bring Love Home Challenge — a nationwide initiative led by Best Friends to help more cats and dogs find homes this December.

The Bring Love Home Challenge ran from December 1-31, 2025. The goal of this challenge was to increase adoptions, even by just one pet, compared to 2024. FRAs exceeded expectations by increasing adoption by more than 40%. Overall, this challenge led to an extraordinary 15,321 pets finding homes in December.

Friends of Rescue Animals is a non-profit organization which supports municipal shelters like the animal shelters in Rowlett, Garland, Richardson, and Sachse. FRAs also operates its own foster-based cat rescue program. Since 2016, this program has placed nearly 3,000 cats into loving homes, giving them a second chance at life. With FRAs’ support, these shelters maintain a live release rate of over 90%, a remarkable achievement, giving them the esteemed no-kill shelter status.

FRAs can provide excellent care thanks to its 400+ volunteers, generous donors and partners who help advance the organization’s mission to find loving homes for homeless pets.

One of the many success stories from December 2025 is Bianca, a resilient mama cat who was found living in a backyard while trying to raise her eight kittens. Thanks to the Bring Love Home Challenge, Bianca received the care and support she needed after her kittens were old enough to be separated, and she found a loving forever home of her own in December, just in time for the holidays.

“We are so proud and thankful to our community for helping us increase adoptions from 62 in December of 2024 to 88 in 2025! Being awarded this grant from Best Friends means we can keep this incredible momentum going and do even better this year! This challenge and grant will have lasting effects for the pets in our care, allowing us to continue working towards our vision where every adoptable pet has a safe, loving home,” said President of FRAs, Deana Seigler.

“More pets being adopted and fostered means more lives saved. We’re proud to recognize Friends of Rescue Animals for their commitment to lifesaving,” said Whitney Bollinger, Director of Strategy & Network Operations, Best Friends Animal Society. “Participating in the Bring Love Home Challenge got cats and dogs out of shelters and into homes in December, and we are excited to see this lifesaving continue with even more pets across North Texas continuing to find the loving homes they deserve!“

“Our vision at FRAs is to see a world where communities, volunteers, and shelters work together to ensure every adoptable pet has a safe, loving home,” Deana Seigler.
