Winter Impact: Helping Hands of Rockwall County issues appeal for help

Rockwall, TX (February 13, 2026) – Dear Rockwall Community,

The snow and ice in our county have melted away, leaving hundreds of our neighbors in a state of crisis.

At Helping Hands, we are seeing the impact firsthand. Over the last two weeks, the number of families reaching out for help via our website has quadrupled, and the calls to our client assistance department have doubled.

Families who were already living paycheck-to-paycheck are now facing impossible choices as utility bills spike and missed workdays lead to empty cupboards.

The Challenge We Face

While the need has surged, our ability to fund these programs has been hit by a double-edged sword:

  • Increased Demand: We are processing 12–15 emergency assistance requests daily.
  • Lost Revenue: The same inclement weather that drove up the need forced us to close our thrift store. This store is the engine that funds our assistance programs and being closed means we are missing the vital funds we rely on to help others.

How You Can Help Today

We are turning to you, our amazing community, to help us meet this unprecedented demand. Your gift today goes directly toward keeping the families in our community in their homes with pantries stocked and utilities current.

  • $50 can help cover an emergency grocery delivery for a homebound senior.
  • $150 can prevent a utility shut-off for a family recovering from lost wages.
  • $500 can provide a significant “bridge” for multiple households in crisis.

Donate Now

Our community is resilient, but right now, many of our neighbors are at a breaking point. Please consider making an urgent donation today to help us ensure that no one is left out in the cold.
