Rockwall County, TX (March 22, 2026) – The Rockwall County Rainbow Room is a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the immediate and ongoing needs of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Working in partnership with Child Protective Services (CPS), the Rainbow Room serves as a vital resource for some of the county’s most vulnerable children and families during times of crisis.
When children are removed from unsafe living situations, they often leave with very little—sometimes only the clothes they are wearing. Foster families or relatives who step in to care for them are rarely prepared for the sudden responsibility of meeting all their basic needs. The Rainbow Room helps bridge that gap by providing essential items quickly and compassionately.
CPS case workers rely on the Rainbow Room to obtain supplies for the children and families they serve. The organization keeps shelves stocked with new clothing, diapers, school supplies, hygiene products, toys, bedding, and other necessities. Immediate access to these items allows case workers to respond quickly and ensures children entering foster care or temporary placement have what they need from the very beginning.
At times, special needs arise that go beyond what is on hand. Whether it is a specific type of infant formula or another urgent item, volunteers work quickly to locate what is needed—ordering online or making a special trip to a local store to ensure no child goes without.
The Rainbow Room operates entirely through community support. Donations from individuals, businesses, churches, and civic groups keep the shelves stocked and ready whenever help is needed. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, approximately 95% of all donations go directly toward serving children and families.
Community generosity also makes several annual programs possible, including Easter baskets for children, seasonal clothing gift cards and winter coats, back-to-school backpacks filled with supplies, and Thanksgiving meal baskets.
