ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (March 19, 2026) — School pride reached new heights this past weekend as Rockwall-Heath High School’s a cappella group, Infiniti, earned a major victory at the semifinal round of a prestigious national competition, ICHSA (International Championship of High School A Cappella). With their win, the talented ensemble has officially secured a coveted spot on the national stage, where they will compete in the finals in New York City in late April. The group also brought home two outstanding awards: Best Vocal Percussionist (Gavin Warner) and Best Choreography (Emily Ford).
Performing a dynamic set, the group captivated the room with their vocal precision and commanding stage presence, showcasing not only their musical skill but also their ability to connect with a live audience.

“Winning ICHSA semifinals was not only an incredible achievement, but a testament to the dedication, passion, and genuine love that every single group member has for a cappella and for one another,” said Emily Ford, a senior and group leader. “The weeks of rehearsals before semis were intense and sometimes tedious, but in those moments, we connected more than we ever have, and it made us want the win that much more. I believe I can speak for the group when I say that there was no better feeling than getting to celebrate with my favorite people, who were as hungry for this win as I was.”
The road to semifinals was no small feat. After advancing through a competitive preliminary round earlier this season, the group intensified their rehearsals, fine-tuning every detail of their set. Under the guidance of directors Lauren Smith and Patrick Vu, the students pushed themselves creatively and technically, resulting in one of their strongest performances to date.
“I love how passionate each student is about what we do,” said Lauren Smith. “So many pieces of this set came from the individual creativity of so many of them! There were many times where a group of them would be sitting together, and there would be a light bulb moment about something we could adjust to perfect every little detail. I’m so proud of them, and I’m so thankful that I get to work with these amazing kids!”

The upcoming finals in New York City will bring together the top nine high school a cappella groups from across the country. Although the national stage is not a new stop for Infiniti (they have advanced to this level 4 out of the last 5 years: 2022, 2024, 2025, and now 2026), for many of the students, it will also be their first time performing on such a prestigious stage.
Beyond the competition, the experience represents an opportunity for growth, exposure, and unforgettable memories. “We’re excited not just to compete, but to meet other groups and learn from them,” said Gavin Warner. “It’s going to be an amazing experience and a wonderful opportunity.”
As the group prepares for the next round, support from the school and local community continues to grow. Fundraisers and events are already being planned to help cover travel expenses and ensure the students can make the most of their trip.
With momentum on their side and a passion for performance driving them forward, Infiniti’s a cappella group is ready to take the national stage in New York City. No matter the outcome, their journey has already made an impact that resonates far beyond the walls of their school.
The community is invited to support these talented students in person at their upcoming concert on April 7, held in Heath’s Performing Arts Center. The event will showcase their award-winning set, along with additional performances from other Heath a cappella groups, plus a special appearance from their a cappella friends, Innovation, from Reedy HS in Frisco. Join them for an amazing night showcasing all the talent of these students.
