Rockwall 4-H and FFA Buckaroo Barnyard Raises Funds for Leadership Rockwall’s Agri-Innovation Barn Ahead of Ribbon Cutting

ROCKWALL, TX (April 27, 2026) — On March 28, 2026, Rockwall County 4-H and Rockwall FFA hosted Buckaroo Barnyard, a family-oriented agricultural education experience held during the annual Rockwall Youth Fair. The Rockwall Youth Fair plays an important role for many youth who house livestock projects at the Rockwall ISD Ag Barn, as it serves as the final event for many of those projects, as well as ag mechanics projects designed and built at the facility.

Buckaroo Barnyard at the Rockwall Youth Fair began in 2025 with the mission of allowing 4-H and FFA members to combine free educational activities with fundraising efforts, including Cow Patty Bingo and a concession stand, to support a meaningful local cause. Rockwall County 4-H and FFA members extend their thanks to the Rockwall County Farm Bureau and Rockwall County Master Gardeners for their contributions to the 2026 event. They are also grateful to everyone who purchased a Cow Patty Bingo square and supported the concession stand. Thanks to this support, Buckaroo Barnyard raised $1,500 and proudly presented a check to the 2026 Leadership Rockwall class during their Ag Barn workday on April 11.

When the 2026 Leadership Rockwall class announced its project—the Agri-Innovation Barn at the Rockwall ISD Agricultural Science Center—Buckaroo Barnyard organizers knew it was the right choice for this year’s fundraising contribution. The goal of the Agri-Innovation Barn project is to enhance hands-on learning opportunities for Rockwall ISD students enrolled in agricultural programs. The initiative reflects Leadership Rockwall’s mission to identify community needs and mobilize leadership, collaboration, and resources to create lasting impact. Supporting a project that directly benefits the community that has supported them was especially meaningful to the 4-H and FFA youth.

The Rockwall ISD Ag Barn plays a key role in providing local students with agricultural experiences. As many local families live in neighborhoods with HOAs or on lots too small to accommodate agricultural activities, the barn offers valuable opportunities for youth interested in raising animals. The Agri-Innovation Barn project extends beyond livestock, also supporting hands-on learning in areas such as welding through Agricultural Science classes—another important life skill.

With continued population and housing growth, there is an increasing need for future agricultural leaders and workers to meet the challenge of feeding and clothing more people with less land. Immersive agricultural experiences like these are essential in exposing youth to potential careers in agriculture.

For many students, the impact is life-changing. Rockwall County 4-H and FFA member Ainsley S. shared, “The Ag Barn has made all my goals achievable. It’s helped me, a kid who otherwise could never have been involved, become an active member of our agricultural community. Our family would not have the opportunities we do without this barn.”

Agri-Innovation Barn Ribbon Cutting

The 2026 Leadership Rockwall class will host a ribbon cutting on May 13, 2026, from 4–6 PM at the Agri-Innovation Barn, located at 827 Riding Club Road. The event will unveil renewed spaces designed to inspire agriculturally based learning, growth, and opportunity for Rockwall ISD students for years to come.

Rockwall County 4-H and FFA members are grateful to have supported this meaningful project and are honored to give back. For more information about Rockwall County 4-H or Rockwall FFA, call 972-204-7660.
